Albuquerque is ringed by casinos in every direction except east, and the useful question is not whether there is one nearby but which compass point suits your evening. Four of the five closest floors belong to neighbouring pueblos: Sandia to the north, Isleta to the south, Laguna's Route 66 to the west and Santa Ana up the Rio Grande at Bernalillo. The fifth, The Downs, is a state-licensed racetrack casino inside the city itself. And two of them do something few city casinos bother with: each runs an RV park of exactly 100 sites.

Albuquerque casino RV parks: the two 100-site options

If you are travelling in a rig, the choice narrows to the west and the south.

Route 66 RV Resort sits beside the casino at I-40 Exit 140. It has 100 full-service sites with 20, 30, 50 and 100 amp connections, pull-throughs on paved roads, a clubhouse, a pool with a water slide and two fenced dog parks. The casino's homepage says the park has held a 10/10/10 Good Sam rating for an eighth year in a row.

Isleta Lakes & RV Park takes a different line. Its 100 sites come with water, sewer, 30/50 amp power, Wi-Fi and satellite TV, but the draw is the two fishing lakes, seasonally stocked with channel catfish and rainbow trout, with the tribal fishing permit included in admission. A daily shuttle runs to the casino and the golf club.

Neither Sandia nor Santa Ana Star advertises an RV park, and The Downs has no lodging at all.

The Downs: the casino inside the city

The Downs is the one most visitors miss because it is not a resort. It is a racetrack casino on Louisiana Blvd NE with about 750 games, a Crown Room restaurant and a grandstand that opens at 9:30am daily for simulcast wagering. The floor keeps late but not round-the-clock hours: 11am to 2am Sunday to Wednesday, until 3am on Thursday, and 10am to 4am on Friday and Saturday.

Timing matters more here than anywhere else in the metro. The Racing Commission's 2026 calendar runs the live meet together with the New Mexico State Fair, from 28 August to 25 October, mostly Wednesday and Friday to Sunday. Outside those weeks, live racing moves to the other tracks and The Downs is a slot floor with simulcast.

Isleta: the table player's pick

South of town on Broadway SE, Isleta has the clearest published numbers of the group: more than 1,800 slots, 24 table games, a high-limit room with more than 100 machines, a poker room and a BetMGM sportsbook. It is open around the clock from Thursday to Sunday and 7am to 3am the rest of the week, and it states a gaming age of 21. For a blackjack player, the mix of single-deck, double-deck and six-deck games is the reason to drive south rather than north.

Sandia: the night out

Sandia, on Rainbow Road at the city's northern edge, is the resort with the most to do away from the machines: an 18-hole championship golf course, a spa and an amphitheater the resort says seats more than 4,000. The floor runs 8am to 4am daily, with blackjack, craps, pai gow, baccarat and roulette in the pit, plus poker and bingo. Check the concert calendar before you go; on show nights the property fills well beyond the casino.

Route 66 and Santa Ana Star

Route 66 is the obvious choice for anyone heading west, and our Route 66 Casino Hotel guide goes through it in detail. Santa Ana Star, at Santa Ana Pueblo near Bernalillo, is the one with a bowling center (Starlight Bowling) and a Thursday to Saturday comedy club. Its floor is open 24 hours on Friday and Saturday and 8am to 4am the rest of the week.

Which direction to drive

For a quick session without leaving the city, The Downs. For tables and poker, Isleta. For a concert or a golf weekend, Sandia. For an RV stop, Route 66 if you are on I-40, Isleta if you want to fish. Our statewide guide lists the floors further out, including Black Mesa on the road to Santa Fe.

From home instead

For nights when none of the five is worth the drive, sweepstakes casinos are the online option most New Mexicans use, with play on free promotional coins. Our New Mexico sweepstakes rankings cover the platforms that accept the state.
